John Maine no-hitter through 7

John Maine is throwing a no-hitter for the Mets against the Marlins today through 7 innings. He has struck out 13 batters.

115 pitches for Maine. They'd be smart to get him out now and not tire him out prior to a likely game 3 start should they make the playoffs.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

They aren't going to the playoffs. What a legendary choke job. That is what makes baseball such a great sport.

I wouldn't exactly call the Phillies a sure thing with Eaton going today and Moyer tomorrow.
