Braves appear close to signing Glavine
http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sp...vine_1118.html
By DAVID O'BRIEN The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 11/18/07 Tom Glavine's anticipated reunion with the Braves could be finalized quickly, the veteran pitcher's representative said Saturday after negotiations brought the sides close to an agreement on what's likely to be a one-year contract worth about $8 million. "I think it's a pretty good chance" it will be finalized soon, agent Gregg Clifton said late Saturday. "We made a lot of progress." The 41-year-old left-hander is a 303-game winner who spent 16 seasons with the Braves before going to the Mets in 2003. He won 242 games and two Cy Young Awards as a member of the Braves. The longtime Alpharetta resident declined a $13 million option to return for a sixth season with the Mets in 2008, expressing a desire to finish his career in Atlanta where he could live at home with his wife and four children during the school year.

$8 Million is a lot for a sign and retire.

Unless your name is Roger Clemens...
Last year: Clemens will make a prorated share of $28 million this year, or roughly $4.5 million per month.

Anyone know if Colorado is still paying Hampton's salary? I think they are.

Hampton should go on trial for robbery in three states. Yikes, that's one awful contract.
