So far so good. Baker said he would lure some big name free agents and so far he's brought in Cordero (Cordero says he wouldnt have come here if not for Dusty) cant wait for the next free agent, Im thinking big like Jason Jennings and Randy Wolf.

To me, that's the most interesting thing about the press conference -- corroboration that Baker was a key factor. He has delivered on his promise to attract players. I think that's huge for his credibility out of the gate....

Well, given that Cordro didn't list money among his reasons for coming to Cincy, I think we have to take that with a grain of salt.

When you take the biggest factor out of the equation the minor ones can seem much much more influential.

I got the feeling that money was what Cordero was talking about when he said the reds were "Aggressive"

Everyone keeps throwing out the $ sign when talking about this franchise...I wouldn't be surprised to see the payroll go up more than would be expected.

Special K said that they are continuing their efforts to improve the pitching on the team in the Cordero press conference. For him to say that is saying a lot more than he previously has.

This ownership is a new day for the organization...they've only been in place a little more than a year and it could be argued that they were getting their game plan in place and evaluating what exactly they needed to do...looks like they are going the FA route.

Will Jennings be able to pitch effectively in 2008? I was under the impression he had some fairly major surgery.

Probably not until August or September at best.
