Say Baltimore gets Marshall or Hill for Roberts.. would that mean they would be more up to dealing Bedard?

Deal could be coming...

8:45 p.m., from Steve Phillips
• The Cubs and Orioles have discussed a Brian Roberts trade. Baltimore would get Rich Hill and Sean Marshall for the second baseman.
Does that open the door moreso for a Bedard trade, or is it a sign that they may decide to keep him and build around him?

Re: O's and Cubs deal?

I can't believe they are going to give up Marshall and Hill for Roberts. If I'm an O's fan, I'm on the edge of my seat right now.

Re: O's and Cubs deal?

That sounds like a lot to give up for Roberts, even though I do like him.

That would be a pretty solid deal for the Orioles. Hill allows his fair share of homers, but he also posted a .695 OPSA last year and a very solid 8.45 K/9. In addition to Hill, Sean Marshall profiles as a solid #4/5 starter. Roberts is a nice player and all, but I would pull the trigger on that deal if I were the Orioles.

It does make one wonder. I suppose with Hill and Marshall in hand, the O's would no longer be worried about their pitching. I wonder if that's when Wayne steps in with an offer of Brandon Phillips for Bedard?

Re: O's and Cubs deal?

if that deal goes thru and the O's get Rich Hill, maybe they will trade Bedard for a package of Bailey, Stubbs, Votto and Maloney for Bedard..

Wow.... thats a whole lot of talent for 2 seasons worth of Bedard. Way too much imo.

Or maybe they'll keep Bedard, Hill and Marshall and hope they stand a better chance against the Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers lineups.

Are the Cubs serious? As a closet O's fan, I hope this goes through.

Re: O's and Cubs deal?

Is Roberts really that much of an upgrade over Theriot and whoever else the Cubs had playing 2B this year? I think they are crazy to make this deal.
