Ron Mahay... to the Rays?

Reds are "firmly in the mix" for Mahay. He's apparently looking for a 3-year contract for about 12 million--similar to J.C. Romero.

Another old reliever. Is he any good?

EDIT: Seems that I misread "Rays" as "Reds" in my haste to get a scoop. Sorry to everyone.

Ummm...

"According to Marc Lancaster, the Rays are "firmly in the mix" for popular 36 year-old lefty reliever Ron Mahay. Four other teams are involved - the Yankees, Royals, Giants, and Astros."

Re: Ron Mahay

He wants a three year deal for $12 mil? He didn't even pitch in the majors last year.

Baseball Reference and Baseball Cube are telling me different things. MLB.com confirms the former, you're right. Sorry about that.

He'd probably help the Reds bullpen. Although I suppose that goes without saying. :

I've been doing a lot of doubletakes since the DRays name change. For a while, I thought Cincy was gonna get Garza.

Re: Ron Mahay

I wondered why the Reds would be looking at Mahay. The Rays make more sense.

Is there some reason why he's popular?
