Honestly, my dog ate the World Series ball
If Paps was smart, he'd be selling his dog's turds on ebay. You just know there are Red Sox fans crazy enough to buy them.

If you believe that one I have some prime swampland I would like to sell you. Is it possible? Yes. Likely? no. He probably has it in a safety deposit box somewhere ready for his grandkids to inherit someday.

I have a pet theory. Varitek gave it to Lester(like he should have) but says he gave it to Paps, and the rest is just Paps having a little fun with the media.

Anyway, I don't get why the players can't keep the ball. I understand why the 2004 ball, commemorating the end of the 86-year skid, was important, but not every game-winning ball represents that momentous an occasion. Do they have the game-winning ball from the last out of the 1990 series? That's a big deal moment for me, but I could care less about seeing the ball. I'd rather see the MRI of Eric Davis' lacerated kidney or his airfare bill back to Cincinnati.

When my band played Cleveland, we stopped at the R/R Hall of Fame. It's kinda neat, but I got bored looking at famous people's guitars and drums. The most interesting things to me were Paul Simon's letters to Garfunkel as a teenager at summer camp. Like Davis' "lacerated kidney MRI," those things seem more real to me.
