ESPN

It's likely that a thread similar to this has been started at some point here on RedsZone based on many of the comments I have read, but I'll start it anyway:

What about ESPN annoys you?

This could probably become a pretty long and comprehensive list. I'll start things off with the thing that bugs me the most: ESPN's baseball coverage. It begins with Joe Morgan calling Sunday Night Baseball. Even if you love Joe Morgan (), it has to bother you that either the Yankees or Red Sox are involed in 3/5 of the matchups they telecast. On top of that, every Baseball Tonight episode begins with 20 minutes to update us on "da yanks" and "da sox". And don't get me started with John Kruk and Steve Phillips...

Re: ESPN

I think I made a thread called "Why I hate ESPN: The Boycott Thread"

Mine is simple.

The fact I still have to put up with Berman to hear Tom Jackson.

Speaking of Berman, get a load of this...

I honestly wish a boycott would work, but we are a bunch of addicts aren't we?

Re: ESPN

I love ESPN.

I don't watch it anymore.

But I love that it exists.

Because simply put, the past was WAY worse.

Nah, because they're are an annoying bunch of non focused catch phrase morons running around the studios.

But for sure it beats calling the sports department to get the scores... those phones would ring a long time... a long time.

Re: ESPN

I try to just watch games (football, hoops, baseball) on ESPN and skip all the pre-game and sport-specific shows. ESPN is bit like being in a room with a bunch of ADD teens drinking Moutain Dew and eating candy bars. I can tune out announcers that annoy me (lot of practice with my wife) and just watch the game action.

Catching scores of games, particularly west coast Reds games, used to be an art form. Like woy, I'm glad ESPN is there, but just in limited doses.

Re: ESPN

I don't have a problem with ESPN when it's not Baseball or Football season. But I hate it when they always discount the Reds from doing anything in the Central division.

These guys I find very difficult to listen to Steve Phillips, Mike Patrick, and Keyshawn Johnson.

Well said,WOY. Used to the only way to get scores was to watch the 11 o'clock news and sometimes then you wouldn't see the one wanted. I now only watch ESPN for the games they have and occasionily PTI. I watch ESPNEWS for the scores and highlights. No fluff, stupid phrases and other junk that is on sportscenter.

Re: ESPN

All that I really need ESPN for is to catch Big Ten football games. The thing that annoys me most about it is knowing that the fee my cable operator pays for it makes my cable bill higher during the months I don't watch it, December through August.

Re: ESPN

I get tired of the following:

Bowling
Tennis
WNBA
Poker
Hockey
Crappy, no-name college football

Seems like they play a combo of this list on ESPN/ESPN2 at all times.
