The bottom line is that the Reds have two young pitchers who could be number one guys if they stay healthy.
Thats nice to read, lets hope there is truth in the statement.

Re: more interesting write up on Bailey and Cueto

Cueto has no chance of becoming a "elite starter". He doesn't have the athletic, explosive release Pedro and Oswalt have, which is why they went on to become good pitchers(I have a feeling Roy will be going the way of Pedro soon, after 30, smallies die fast).

That is why the Cueto hype is rediculous and comparing him to Bailey is absurd.

I also believe Cueto has a chance at being a No. 1 starter. He's got the stuff (92-94 mph fastball that can touch 95-96 when he wants), a nasty slider, and a solid changup and great control. His stuff is explosive from what I've seen in the couple times of watching him. I see his ceiling being that of Mario Soto's but his best comparison IMO is Ian Snell, another small guy with similar stuff.

Lets hope his control in the majors holds up better than Snell's. That said, I'll take Ian Snell V2, considering how hard I was pushing for Ian Snell V1 a couple of months ago...

I would say the opposite I think Baily is the typical hyped player who has a good fast and can throw but does have a clue on how to pitch. Every thing I read about him form coaching comments is that he is hard headed. Now Cueto on the other hand seems to be like a sponge and has the savvy of a 29 year old pitcher at 22. He throws his fastball three different speeds and changes speeds on his off speed stuff and according to coaches knows how to pitch. Bailey seems like the type of player who has the talent but never becomes what he should because he won't listen and learn. It is always me and my pitching coach from HS found this or did this. When the Reds gave him an off season work out program he said he was going to do his own thing instead. I am really beginning to think it might be time to trade high with Bailey.
