Buying a Laptop Computer

I've heard the Lenovo Thinkpads are the best. I know they recently released the X300, an extremely thin model that is similar to the MacBook Air, and I'm strongly considering it. The only downside I've heard is the cost and the 13" screen. Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions/recommendations?

Re: Buying a Laptop Computer

while we are asking for suggestions about laptops, what do the people think of the HP Compaq 8510p? It's got a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of memory, a 160 GB hard drive, and Windows Vista Ultimate. Thanks.

My brother has a basic Dell laptop. I'm not sure on the specs, but if I were you I would be sure to get the upgrades on whatever you got. He's a sports writer, so he got a bunch of stuff for editing, and writing, and a very high-quality video card. Depending on what you are getting this for, there are packages suited to alot of different situations.

Re: Buying a Laptop Computer

I have a Thinkpad X40, almost 3 years old now (yikes, I didn't realize it's been that long!) but it has always worked fine. Back at the time, the X40 was the "thin" model. Cons are the small screen and cramped keyboard but I love the red ball scroller/mouse as opposed to the touchpad.
