FWIW, I expect Colorado to have a very rough year on the mound. You've got kids like Morales and Jiminez who are likely to discover that this pitching thing is hard and then you've got a cast characters including Kip Wells, Mark Redman and Josh Towers. Also, surely Aaron Cook's foolin' nobody arsenal has got to net him some high runs totals one of these years.

Re: This is how it should be done
Cook's as good as his infield defense is. Kind of like Carlos Silva. As we saw with Silva lately, all things go to hell when hits start finding holes.
A string of bad luck and Cook (and this is a question of when and not if) is going to give up a bushell of runs. |

Perhaps they'd be interested in Fogg. They'd probably like the price.

Re: This is how it should be done
I'm not sure I'd expect the Rockies to win more games than they did last year, and even if they do I'm not sure it'll be enough. TMBS, I'm not sure I expect anyone in the NL west to improve much this year so I guess anything is possible.

I think Arizona becomes better based on the Haren pick up, but I don't expect them to win more games as they outplayed their pythag and there are still some serious holes on offense. |

Re: This is how it should be done
I see the NL West being a shootout between the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks.
However, I don't see the loser of this 2 horse race making the playoffs. The Wild Card will come out of the NL East. Mets and Phillies, IMO, in that order. But, you have to be encouraged by the Rockies, b/c last year they overachieved, and this year I feel them having the taste of being in the WS, and wanting to get back ASAP. They're bringing in global young talent, and aren't afraid to play that young talent. Gotta feel good to be a Rockies fan recently. |
