So long, Dodgertown...
Quote:
The reason I post this is because I don't understand why the people that run the show always want to mess with tradition? I was in Vero Beach a couple of summers ago, and I could have sworn I was in LA for a few minutes with all the Dodger stuff EVERYWHERE. Why ruin that? It really irks me, even if it is the Dodgers ![]() Same thing goes with the Reds not throwing out the first pitch/playing the first game of the season. Baseball is a game of tradition, I just wish the powers that be would take their heads out of their rears long enough to notice.

Old Memories of the Dodgers
Today's Orlando Sentinel has a piece on the closing of Vero Beach as the spring training home of the Dodgers.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sport...7698766.column Included is the following quote by Tommy Lasorda, as he was addressing the crowd: Quote:
...it really was on par with Red Sox-Yankees for the 70's and 80's for much of the time...hard to believe the last time the Reds won a playoff series it was against the Dodgers way back in '95 (Mark Lewis PH grand slam, anyone??)...

Re: Old Memories of the Dodgers
I miss those "Dodger hating" days, too, coach. They, truly, were the Reds greatest rival and those games were always special. Transistor radio under the pillow when I was a kid, listening to those late west coast games. It hasn't been the same since they changed the divisional format.
