CNN: Skybus shuts down operations

Just heard on CNN. High fuel cost did it in. So ATA and now Skybus gets shut down.

Skybus was cheap, and it showed.

Fuel and a questionable business model were equally responsible I would guess.

Frankly, this sucks, especially for those of us in and around Columbus. Skybus was a nightmare to fly, but it was at least affordable.

There were three domestic airlines that went belly up this week. Aloha was the third.

I am particularly disappointed to see Skybus fail. Most of my air travel is to Columbus and I was hoping they would expand their low-priced service to Texas eventually.

Won't be long before flying will go back to only being available to the very wealthy, it's the only way airlines will be able to survive.

The way that the economy is going, I would suspect this to be the case with anything considered a "luxury".
