Not really, just ten rounds of three darts per round. You're basically going to be throwing at the triple-20 with every throw. That may sound boring, but keeping lists makes it much more interesting. We keep many, among them:

Top 50 All-Time Scores (all ten rounds)
Top 50 All-Time Scores (first five rounds only)
Bottom 10 All-Time Scores (all ten rounds)
Bottom 10 All-Time Scores (first five rounds only)
Individual Top 25 All-Time Scores
Most 180s in a night (the 180 being the perfect score of three triple-20s in a single round)

I have three columns for the Top 50 lists: score, date, player. We also keep track of how many games each person wins for the night. Our typical night consists of about 75% high score and 25% cricket to keep it mixed up a bit. Keeping track of the all-time lowest scores provides an incentive to keep trying when a game is not going well and winning is impossible. In that situation, you try to stay off that list.

All this may be more work than you want to put in, I don't know. It is rather time consuming in the first few sessions, as you get your lists established. After that, it's not that inconvenient. I keep Excel printouts and then write that nights accomplishments on the hard copy, then enter the new scores into the software and print out new sheets before we play again. We kept no records at all the first few months we played, then decided we needed creative ways of keeping it fresh and interesting. This has worked really well.

The beauty of high score is that it allows such record keeping, whereas cricket, 301, and the other games do not. There is a winner and a loser, but no basis for comparison to historical accomplishments.

Hmmm...I've never seen one of those before, but it doesn't appear that it would cause any harm. I may have to get a couple of those myself.

I am liking my bristle dart board so much, one has been installed in my garage for when friends come over this summer they can smoke while playing.

Re: Bought A Bristle Dart Board - Need Dart Suggestions

It's funny that this subject should pop up now. I used to play a lot of informal cricket at some local pubs before all these kids (my children, not a bunch of children invading a pub) showed up. I still have a set of hammerheads somewhere myself. Recently, our office moved to a new location and in scouting out nice places for lunch we ran across a place where darts and/or billiards are free if you order lunch there. I think I'm going to need to find those darts...

RawOwl UK, that is funny you mentioned England. My 70 year old mother is visiting from Ipswich England. My father met her while stationed in England via the Air Force. We played darts on Sunday night. I could not believe how someone her age enjoyed it! It is a fun game to unwind.

Re: Bought A Bristle Dart Board - Need Dart Suggestions

I've got a pretty decent board and have played a lot of darts over the years. Being on the road so much, I don't get to play that much anymore and my game is a bit rusty. When I'm home and don't have anybody to play against, I use a program called CorkIt by a company called Omega Darts. You can play against a computer opponent of varying skill or you can just use the screen to mark your throws and let the computer compute your score. It's handy if you're playing 501 and don't feel like doing the math. I kind of like it. There's a free download or a paid version that has more features.
