I'm sitting here watching the Mets - Phillies games...
and something strikes me. Chase Utley is an absolute stud.
I really like the Phillies, and have since last year's Colorado rain out episode. They have players on the team that are easy to root for. I was pretty bummed with their early playoff exit last year. Anyone else have another team they root for, or am I betraying my beloved Reds? |

The other teams I root for are because of players I like
Tampa Bay Rays (Crawford, Upton) Arizona Diamondbacks (Upton) Florida Marlins (Hanley, Maybin)

I'm a big Orioles fan (mainly for Brian Roberts, Jeremy Guthrie, and Nick Markakis) and I also follow the Angels and have since 2002 when they shocked everyone by winning the World Series. That team isn't the same one anymore although John Lackey and K-Rod are two of my fave guys still with them now. I still enjoy watching them play and went to see them when they played the Reds last year. They're just a great ball club and I really like Mike Scoscia too. I think he's an amazing manager and he always puts together good solid teams.

Re: I'm sitting here watching the Mets - Phillies games...
I'm a closet Indians fan.
Where I live, Pittsburg (yuck) and Cleveland get about equal play. It's like Hell for a Reds/ Bengals fan. My friends do all like the Buckeyes, though. The Indians kind of grew on me in the last few years (like a fungus?). I'm not sure exactly why. They have had some exciting younger players. I did see Sabathia pitch in a minor league game, too. They are having similar offensive problems to us. I watched them play the Twins today. They can't score.

i am probably as huge as it gets for the Reds
i do watch all the other teams as well. i find it hard to dislike other teams because players move around so much, you find former Reds on almost every team

I root for only the reds during the season, and then usually adopt a playoff team every season since the reds haven't made it often. The adopt a team i usually don't care so much about, during the season i root for whoever is playing the central division teams.

I love watching the Mets play because of three players...
Wright Reyes Beltran Wright and Reyes are two of my favorite players in the game today.

Just for the record, I also would NEVER root aginst the Reds
![]() I take my philisophical musings on fanhood seriously. 10 years ago I stopped participating in fantasy baseball because I found myself occasionally, in meaningless games, rooting for one of my players to have a good game against the Reds. I couldn't handle the guilt. |

Re: I'm sitting here watching the Mets - Phillies games...
I never root against any team, just for my team, which is Red Sox, but since I moved to Cincy, Reds have been my #2 team. I'll be rooting for Reds 159 games this year. B/t the two teams and player movement there is bound to be a former on any team that is playing.
Like the Phillies for their players. Utley/Rollins/Victorino and Hamels are all exceptional to watch. A's and Braves for players in the past plus Beane, Schuerholz and Cox deserve some dues for their success. Even have to give props to "the Boss" for doing whatever he can to win, despite the Sox/Yanks rivalry. Last edited by RSNtransplant; 04-21-2008 at 05:43 PM. |
