The only hits for the Reds were a two-out single by Frank Robinson in the first inning, a one-out single by Roy McMillan in the second, a leadoff single by Don Hoak in the seventh, and a one-out single by Smoky Burgess in the ninth. Joe Nuxhall was lifted for pinch-hitter Bob Thurman in the top of the second inning.
