Are Ballplayers Insured?IfAlex Gonzalez is out for half
a season do the Reds get any help in paying his salary for the year?

They can, but they have to buy it on their own. It usually is reserved for bigger contracts than the one Gonzalez got, but with the Reds small payroll, who knows?

Yeah Gonzalez salary is small and my guess would be that pitchers
would be uninsurable cause they break down more often.
