Nats ripped for "cheerleading in the dugout like a bunch of softball girls”

Since it helped break a slump, maybe this is something the Reds should do?

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/met...rips-nats.html

Quote:
Whoa Nellie! Figueroa rips Nats' chants

Mild-mannered Nelson Figueroa was livid at the Washington Nationals on Monday night for what he described as bush-league chanting coming from their dugout.”They were cheerleading in the dugout like a bunch of softball girls,” Figueroa said after the Mets lost to Washington, 10-4, in the series opener. “I’m a professional, just like anybody else. I take huge offense to that. If that’s what a last-place team needs to do to fire themselves up, so be it. I think you need to show a little bit more class, a little bit more professionalism. They won tonight, but again, in the long run, they are who they are.”

Of course, Lastings Milledge was in the middle of the controversy.

“Well, what were we supposed to do? We’re not supposed to cater to anybody on the opposing team,” Milledge said. “We’re not going to cater to him or anybody else. We’ve been down the last couple of days and we wanted to get something going. And if he doesn’t like it, then he’s got to deal with it. Anybody don’t like it, they just have to deal with it.”

I have no problems with this. Its sorta kidish but if it keeps the dugouts morale up...so be it.

Figueroa could have tried to silence them by not pitching like crap...

I guess some people don't have better things to do with their time than to rip other teams for cheering.

If they are content with being the happiest last place club in baseball, then more power to them.

Good to see the enthusiasm when they do well. It helps show that they still care and want to do well.

After pitching badly and THEN complaining about something like this, it is no surprise he's DFA

Figueroa said it wasn't the cheering FOR their team that bothered him it was when they broke out they said he had a rubber arm that really was just over the line.

Whatever they are doing, I'm sure it's as annoying as hell but if you're a player, you need to worry about your own business.
