Re: This Date In Reds History (5/21/08): Past Lineups
Seaver slumped a little with the bat in 1978. But if he had swung the bat in '78 like he did in 1977, there would have been a legitimate argument for him to have batted seventh in that game!

Re: This Date In Reds History (5/21/08): Past Lineups
Five years ago (2003), a 9-3 win at Great American Ball Park vs. the Braves.
Atlanta Rafael Furcal ss Mark DeRosa 2b Gary Sheffield rf Chipper Jones lf Andruw Jones cf Robert Fick 1b Javy Lopez c Vinny Castilla 3b Mike Hampton p Cincinnati Barry Larkin ss Jose Guillen lf Ken Griffey Jr. cf Austin Kearns rf Aaron Boone 3b Sean Casey 1b Kelly Stinnett c Juan Castro 2b John Riedling p WP: Chris Reitsma (3-1) LP: Mike Hampton (2-2) HR: CIN - Adam Dunn (17). This was the infamous "Ray King" game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Austin Kearns was out while trying to score on a wild pitch. Braves catcher Javy Lopez threw to pitcher Ray King covering the plate, and in the process of applying the tag, the portly King "sat" (for lack of a better term) on Kearns' shoulder. In the eyes of many, Austin Kearns has never been quite right since. Adam Dunn hit a pinch-hit three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning off Jung Bong.
