Re: Harang vs. Masterson (6/13/08)
Not a whole lot to go off here because of the interleague matchup. I would guess a lot of those numbers against Harang were from his time with Oakland. Masterson has pitched well in his spot starts, and at this point is probably just a six inning pitcher. Harang needs to show that he is still the ace of this staff. He can't get beat by another rookie. That being said, the Reds hitters need to be patient and let Masterson make mistakes, and not have Corey Patterson in the lineup.
It's just wishful thinking at this point, but can we please also not have Janish in the two hole? I would honestly love to hear Dusty's rationale for doing that. I honestly can not think of a reason. |

Re: Harang vs. Masterson (6/13/08)
Well, ive demotionalized myself quite a bit,to save my sanity, bracing for the worst and expecting the worst at this point.
Reviewing your stats you posted, on paper it seems like we should get swept this weekend. And im not doubting that a bit. My prediction is Harang throws avg. gives up 4 ER. Our BP gives up another 2-3 We lose 6 or 7 to 1 or 2. Volquez saturday i give us a 50/50 shot at winning Bailey on sunday. As much as i would love to see baily step it up and show us some great potential for good number 4 or 5 guy. I dont see it happening sunday against the sox. So we lose pretty badly sunday. One other thing that got to me. Why in the world did tom on tv or one of the announcers ont he radio two days in a row say that were just hands down better ball club than St.louis. Did that seem like a stupid comment to anybody else? |

The sox don't struggle against Harang that is for sure. Good thing for our sake Ortiz is on the shelf.

Re: Harang vs. Masterson (6/13/08)
While watching the Red Sox Broadcast last night, the announcers
were saying how could they let a pitcher who was 2-9 pitch to them like he was Cy Young. see it works both ways.
