St. Louis scorekeepers?

One of the Brewers announcers called out the St. Louis scorekeepers as the worst in baseball. How does that square with RedsZoners' experience?

Re: St. Louis scorekeepers?

I haven't kept up with who's really bad. But I've long maintained that the sanctimonious folks who have been so concerned with the "integrity" of the game's statistical accuracy throughout the "steroid era" should devote a bit of their attention to these clowns.

More and more it seems that hometown hitters are getting hits that should have been called errors. The reduction in errors over time is not purely the product of better equipment and athleticism.

Home scorers protect their guys -- they're more likely to award hits to their players, less likely to award errors to their guys (thereby scoring opposing players PAs as hits instead of errors).

The league should definitely review a lot more of this stuff.

Scorekeeper hiring and oversight should be treated like umpires.
