Baseball Program at Pleasant Ridge Library
Next Monday, August 11th, the Pleasant Ridge branch library (6233 Montgomery Road) will host a gathering of former professional baseball players.
The flyer my sister gave me says: Meet some fascinating baseball players from our neighborhood - Chuck Harmon, 1st African-American player on the Reds, Charlie "Whip" Davis of the Memphis Red Sox of the Negro Leagues, Bill Schlesinger of the Boston Red Sox, Leo "Chico" Cardensas, Ron "Bunny" Warren, and others. I believe Don Johnson is going to be there too, another Negro League player (who my friend Don thinks may still be playing ball somewhere on the sandlots of Cincinnati). It begins at 6:30 p.m. I can't make it since we have to see our daughter off to her new life in Atlanta (with a week orientation in Houston), but I thought I'd pass it on to folks on RZ.
