Re: Reds vs D-Backs 9/13/08 (no Bako or Patterson)

Dusty again playing the lineup that he thinks has the best chance of winning -- hence the few lefties, including no Patterson, Bako, or Dickerson.

I mean this in a non-judgemental way, but winning tonight is clearly Dusty's priority #1, with getting the most exposure for the young guys who might be contributors next year a distant #2.

Personally, I'd much rather get a look at Dickerson against the tough lefty, even if he goes 0-4, than give more AB to Jolbert Cabrera. I just hope one of us is blowing out the other so we can finally see Roenicke.

Our home plate ump tonight is Bob Davidson. His average is 7.97 runs/game, 13.7 Ks/game, 7.0 BBs/game, for a 2.0 Ks/BB rate. His runs/game average is one of the lower in MLB according to the umpire report.

Hannigan took awhile to get the ball out but delivered a very strong, accurate throw and the good tag by Rosales equals Drew caught stealing. Young strikes out on the next pitch to end the inning.

So was that a strike-out or a walk?

That's what she said.

I really like Votto at first base but with Alonso coming up soon I hope one of these guys can make a good transition to another position. I doubt Alonso can play anywhere but first so hopefully they can start getting Votto some time in left field or something.

Volquez walks Young to load to the bases on a 3-2 pitch. Gameday showed that one to be a strike....right over the plate. Dunner, up, bases loaded....
