Pettyjohn allows a single off the RF wall to begin the inning. But the Reds will win because Dusty says Pettyjohn is a winner.

SO.....120 is the magic mark for Dusty.....have fun going crazy OBM.

To me....Cueto did not need to be extended like that...neither did EV last night...however I am not a firm believer that a pitcher cannot throw over 100 pitches start after start without getting hurt or it's a guarantee he will be hurt.

I think extending most pitchers closer to 120 than always barely letting them go 100 is the way it should go. However....these 2....but mainly Cueto...did not need to go this route.

Bob Mevlin pulls Scherzer after 102 pitches in six innings. What the heck is he doing? Doesn't he know he's still got another 25-30 pitches left?

He had at least 10-15 left....especially with the way the Reds hitters could not figure him out at all.

Bray K's Dunn with the bases loaded on three straight nasty sliders. 1-1 after eight innings.

But Bob Melvin is a smart guy. He rarely lets his starters go past 110 pitches. I wish the Reds took care of their arms like that.

And the fans booed like I haven't heard for awhile.

How can that be???

I thought the Arizona fans appreciated Dunn like the Red's fans never did?

Is it possible that the fans only appreciated Dunn when he was going hot, and now have cooled somewhat(like evey other fan in the world)?

Dunn's OPS with the DB's is now (marginally) worse that it was with the Reds.

With the DB's falling quickly out of the race, and Dunn hitting like Dunn hits, it will be interesting to see how everyone reacts now that the honeymoon period is over.

Beware the small sample size.

Bob is going to do that with the younger pitchers.....but Webb and when Johnson had more stamina....he had no problem going closer to 120.

But the point is.....like you are clearly trying to make....no need to push the younger arms at this time.
