I find it very hard to believe that GMs will care about Dunn's D, whatever position he plays in 2009.

GMs will pay Dunn for his bat, as they should.


I don't think he'll make less money b/c he doesn't play GG caliber D.

I don't think Dunn would be a highly tradable commodity. He wasn't a highly tradable commodity last year or the year before that. Now granted, they'd bet trading a full year off Dunn, instead of a partial year.

However, it's no secret that Dunn has been shopped almost annually by the Reds for at least the last 4 years.

Edit: Not a criticism of Dunn, I just don't think he's a highly coveted player by GMs.

ESPN's Trade Deadline show. They were discussing the lack of interest in Dunn....his flaws, not knowing where he really fits in the order, the money involved...etc. Buster Olney said, "I talked to one GM today that said he wouldn't give Dunn more than a one or two year deal at 5-million a year when he becomes a free agent this offseason."

I believe a good many of the GM's think of Dunn the same as the Toronto GM did. All it takes is one, though, to give him that huge contract. My guess is Bowden will offer him the big contract Dunn wants.

I would offer Dunn 5 yr 50M with a 1M bonus for every year he gets over .270 and 1M bonus for every year he walks more than 120 times and 1M bonus for every year he hits over 40 HR. Then I would let him choose LF or 1B and leave him there and forget about him.

I don't think you can give bonuses for things like that any more. You can do it for stuff like games played and MVPs and ASG appearances but not for individual stats.

Dunn's going to get paid. 40 HRs is 40 HRs.

Hey Dunn, here's 3 million extra per year if you accomplish something only 17 players have ever been able to do 39 times and 14 of them it was Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds.

of course you probably didn't mean all in one year.
