When someone says, "I've never done this before..." chances are pretty good they have, in fact, done that before.

True Dat, Doc.

There's something wrong with people who have Irish Creme around long enough to wonder if it's spoiled... I keep mine in the fridge and use it like it's Half and Half, just like my father and his father before him.

People! Two words- "White Russian". That oughta keep your Bailey's from taking up space in the fridge.

The Bailey's was originally for white russians, however, I stopped using it to make them. Nowadays* I resort to vodka + kahlua + cream and skip over the Bailey's.

*Nowadays I rarely even drink white russians anymore. It's mainly just beer, lots of varieties of beer, but just beer nonetheless.

But you need it half full to keep your doilies from blowing into your potpourri.

Keep family family, and business business.

Re: I learned that the hard way

When driving a nail, never place your finger in such a position that there is even a minuscule chance that it can be struck by the hammer. A similar rule should apply to cutting things with knives. My hands have scars dating back to childhood that attest to the fact that I have not always heeded this advice.

Re: I learned that the hard way

I think I mentioned this once here before, but- though they look the same, yellow cake mix and pancake batter do not taste the same.

And I'll tell one on my father: When I was 16, he excused himself from the table to "go take a vitamin."

Seconds later, from the kitchen, I hear my father making choking sounds. It was pretty awful.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Man, that vitamin was tough to swallow. That didn't go down smooth at all," he said.

"Dad, that was a Flinstone chewable vitamin. You aren't supposed to swallow it whole."

My father was almost killed by Barney's tail.
