How many homers will our outfield hit?

I stole this from the ORG, hope they don't mind.

But anyway, the 2009 Reds outfield, right now appears to be the least powerful outfield we've had in years. So with Bruce, Dickerson, Gomes, Willy T, and Hopper nd maybe Dorn down the road, how many homers will they hit this year?

My best estimates:

Bruce: 36 HR
Dickerson: 14 HR
Gomes: 13 HR
Willy/Hairston: 5 HR
Dorn/ Any newcomes or suprises that we don't know about: 10 HR

I certainly hope not, but it is possible. Hopefully Dickerson breaks out with some power.

Less homers from the outfield but the potential for more homers from the infield. (mostly catcher & ss if AGon is healthy for 130+ games) Overall maybe a few homers less as a team but not a big dropoff.

Bruce: 25
Taveras: 2
Dickerson/Hairston/Gomes/backups: 25

Mark it down — the first and third base positions combined will hit more home runs than than the three outfield positions.

Re: How many homers will our outfield hit?

Bruce - 30
Dickerson - 10
Hairston - 10
taveras - 5
Gomes - 10 (if he comes North)
And, if Dorn comes up early enough to get close to 400ABs - 20

Really good chance considering Taveras hits a maximum of 2 and will start 140 games at least barring injury

Re: How many homers will our outfield hit?

As long as Bruce can hit a good bit and the rest get on base and let Votto and Phillips knock them in and we score a lot of runs.I don't care who hits em.

Re: How many homers will our outfield hit?

Bruce
Bill James .891 OPS 35 HR
Chone .843 OPS 27 HR
Marcel .800 OPS 18 HR
Oliver .830 OPS 29 HR

Taveras
BJ .672 OPS 2 HR
C .669 OPS 2 HR
M .680 OPS 3 HR
O .650 OPS 3 HR

Dickerson
BJ .814 OPS 21 HR
C .749 OPS 16 HR
M .851 OPS 9 HR
O .742 OPS 15 HR

Gomes
BJ .815 OPS 9 HR
C .808 OPS 20 HR
M .742 OPS 13 HR
O .770 OPS 12 HR

These are just the projections from Bill James, Chones, Marcel and, Oliver. I'm thinking
Bruce 30
Taveras 2
Dickerson 15
Gomes 15

Put me down for 62HR and place your bets accordingly on the O/U I see a combined OPS for the OF to be just shy of .800. my .02

Re: How many homers will our outfield hit?

Bruce: 31
Dickerson: 13
Gomes: 10
Hairston: 5
Taveras: 2
Other: 7

So I will go with 68 total. I threw the other category in there because who really knows who may get a start or two in the outfield for us this season.

FYI, this is my first post on the message boards. Hope to get around to posting as much as possible. Go Reds!

I have a better shot of hitting 14 hrs for the Reds than Dickerson.
