A.M. reception question

I can only pick up WLW on the am dial at my job. I dont sit near a window so no way of getting any better reception. Outside of getting Sirius/Xm, are there any doohickeys you can buy or tricks to getting reception inside an office building? I can get FM fine but I'm a talk show junkie.

Re: A.M. reception question

I believe AM is a line of sight type doo-hickey, so you need to put an antenna where this nothing obstructing the reception. Even in your car, you can't get reception when you go under an overpass, not sure you'll have any luck inside a building, if something is blocking the signal.

Best thing is to put up an outside antenna, and then have it so you can hook up to it inside.

You can try an AM antenna.
Here is a page on reception from C. Crane. They make AM antennas.

Re: A.M. reception question

Why would you want to pick up anything but WLW??

Re: A.M. reception question

Dom is right, AM is a straight line signal. If something is in the way it will be deflected and you won't get reception. However, the signal can travel vast distances, and I have had incredible luck rigging up my loop antenna to get a better signal. Check out the site below for some help, though you might not have any luck at all with local AM. I've picked up California stations in the past which is pretty cool!

This is a long range radio from Radio Shack. You could try this and if it does not work to your statisfaction, retrun it.
