Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

I know Brandon Phillips has great range...but I think listing him as a right fielder is a bit of a stretch. :O)

I'm shocked Dusty isn't putting a more intelligent hitter in the 2 hole. Gonzalez must not be 100% yet.

Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

Per Fay:

Edinson Volquez v. Jason Hammel

Small-ball run for Reds in the first: Willy Taveras walks, steals second, goes to third on Chris Dickerson's single, scores on Joey Votto's sac fly. The good part. The bad part? Dickerson stole second and moved to third on the sac fly. But he was stranded when Brandon Phillips took a called third strike and Jay Bruce grounded out. Dickerson has been successful on his last two steals attempts after starting 2-for-3.

Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

Edinson escapes the first unscathed. Leadoff walk, an out, a single, another walk then a DP ball. Not exactly crisp.

No. That's true.

But nothing to worry about either.

Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

Looks like Jones got a single
stole second
Kepp got out but advanced Jones to third
Hanigan drove Jones in to score with a sac fly
Taveras with a single
Dickerson follows with his second hit of the game but gets stranded when Votto is out.

3-0 Reds so far.

I guess I had it pretty close....~per fay
Quote:
Volquez had a rough first and got out of it with no damage. He walked Jason Bartlett to start the inning, got a loud out, gave up a hit to Willy Aybar and walked Carlos Pena to load the base. Pat Burrell hit a shot that Edwin Encarnacion turned into a 5-4-3.

Encarnacion hit a blast to left to lead off the second. The Reds added another small-ball run. Jacque Jones singled and stole second. He went to third on Jeff Keppinger's groundout and scored Ryan Hanigan's sac fly.

Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

Gross leads off the bottom of 2nd with a single
Kapler grounds into another DP
Ensberg reaches on Edwin's fielding error (wow, not a throwing error. We don't see many of those variety)
Hernandez singles
Bartlett singles to load the bases
Crawford k's to end the inning.

3-0 Reds after 2.

Edinson doing his best Stormy Weathers impersonation. Causing lots of trouble, but lucking out....so far.

2.0 ip / 4 hits / 2 bb / 1 k / 0 runs / 2 double play balls

Re: 3/18/09 Reds vs Rays

That's it for Edinson. Burton in to pitch the 4th.

Edinson's line. 3 ip / 6 hits / 2 bb / 2 k's / 0 runs

Starts Ensberg off with a K
Hernandez grounds out
Bartlett pops out

Nelson coming in for Hamels. I'm out guys, my fridge died and the repair man just showed up. C-ya! Go Redlegs!
