Chris Welch on Harrang

Quote of the Game--Chris Welsh. "Aaron Harang is always going to throw strikes, except for those days he doesn't have it."

Reminds me of the Sphinx from "Mystery Men." Or something Dr. Phil would say.

Pitchers always throw strikes, unless they throw balls... or throw to a base to keep a runner from stealing... or balk.

It certainly is, unless it isn't.

Re: Chris Welch on Harrang

I do a nightly quote of the game on my blog. This was copied and pasted w/o permission or credit, not that I take ownership over what Welsh says. Regardless, Chris Welsh always provides for some great one-liners. Did anyone hear his Snake Plissken/Escape from New York comment the other night. Truly awesome. I listen to lots of other games and there are definitely worse announcers. There are also better announcers (Vin Scully for the Dodgers comes to mind).

Yeah, I was thinking "one of the best movies ever made? Hyperbole much?"

But he is definitely one of the better commentators out there. Except when he isn't.

Yes! That Snake Pliskin comment killed me. And then I was trying to tell my friend about it later, but couldn't remember his name, but my friend actually knew it, which made me crack up again.

Re: Chris Welch on Harrang

He just doesn't have it anymore now that he shaved the mustache. He's lost without it.
