Re: Reds name PTBNL from Keppinger Trade

Yep, Kepp sure does stink.

7 hits in 15 at bats, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR.......... .467 batting average, 2 walks and as usual, NO K'S.

I miss him already.

17 inning sample size versus 1900 innings over his career. The back of his baseball card says those numbers will come back down to Earth, and I hope it starts tonight.

I don't think Kepp would start tonight. Not against a righty.

Re: Reds name PTBNL from Keppinger Trade

It all depends on how far Keppinger comes back from his knee injury. If he stays at a post-knee injury level it is a good deal. If he gets back to a pre-knee injury level it isn't a good deal.

The numbers on the back of his baseball card at the time of his knee injury show a career OPS of .806. Not too shabby.

A career line of .354/.407/.529/.936 against left-handed pitching should play on any team. Platoon him in left field with Dickerson. My question is this: Where does Drew Sutton play on this team?

Did Kepp ever play left? I seem to recall him getting in there for one game. That may have been RF though. I don't know if he would fit with the whole speed and defense vibe this team wants to play out. Plus they like Hairston a whole lot more than Kepp for whatever reason.

I think Sutton has as good a chance as Rosales to make the team as a utility player. Maybe a bit better because he projects as a better base stealer and could pinch run, as well as play the outfield.

I'm totally shocked. Must be that .500 batting average that Kepp's producing over there for Houston.

I put him platoon him with gonzo. If kepp keeps on hot hitting and gonzo keeps on stinking up the place. I platoon kepp and hairston just like last year.

Both with hot bats and i was just fine with them.

Make gonzo prove he deserves the spot. Instead of just handing it over to him once he got healthy.

Re: Reds name PTBNL from Keppinger Trade

After watching Hairston and Kepp' play SS last year, and seeing some of the plays in this very young season Gonzo has made, it's difficult to understand why someone would still think either was capable of being anything more than a give-the-real-SS a rest. (Then I'd play Janish).
