Re: Freel unhappy, unsure of his role in Baltimore
Obviously, I was a strong supporter of Freel when he was with the Reds. However, even I know he is not an everday player. Kudos to the O's for figuring that out.
Even if Freel could get on base at a decent clip as a starter, he would inevitably hurt himself by playing in that many games. |

Re: Freel unhappy, unsure of his role in Baltimore
I too was a big Freel supporter. Both in '07 and '08 he sustained serious injury to his "wheels" which was his biggest asset. He could mis-play a fly ball in CF and still get to it. Well, last year it was obvious he'd lost a step, (un-successful steals), and one would expect he lost even more speed with the season ending surgery last year. Reds did great to move him and get a useful part in return. Best of luck to him.
