Re: 5/12/09 Reds vs D-Backs
Phillips had a meatball to crush on 3-1, yet can only (weakly) foul it off. He then strikes out swinging at a pitch a good 8 inches off the plate away.
Frustrating. |

Re: 5/12/09 Reds vs D-Backs
Phillips might go on to have a big night but on paper this isn't one that he'd invite his Grandma to come watch. This is a tough match up for Phillips.

AJ Hinch sounds overmatched as a major league manager.
"Wanted to put a left handed catcher in the 2 hole to give the pitcher a different look" Huh?

Re: 5/12/09 Reds vs D-Backs
Nasty sequence there by Owings to get Upton....changeup just misses, then slider pretty much unhittable, followed by a low outside fastball to leave him flailing.

Haren looks tough tonight so far - keeping the ball down and hitting his spots on the corners with his fastball.

Yep. Let's hope Owings is on top of his game tonight because I don't think the Reds offense is going to do a whole lot tonight.

Re: 5/12/09 Reds vs D-Backs
I love Ramon's willingness to take that outside pitch to right, a lot.
Bats just scored 5 in the top of the 9th to go up 7-6
