Smith (9). Ernie Broglio pitched a two-hit shutout with 6 K's to get the win for the Cardinals. The only hits for the Reds were a one-out infield single by Whitey Lockman in the first inning, and a two-out single by Ed Bailey in the fifth. Lockman had been acquired from the Orioles on June 23 in exchange for 1B Walt Dropo.
