Trade Idea with Texas

I really see us trying to focus on 2010, I think Walt knows were close just not ready to compete with the big boys. I think he knows the Central is up for grabs, but we have virtually no shot getting out of the first round of the playoffs yet. So with that in mind he will trade off some of our desirables at the deadline for pieces in 2010. Here is one idea:

Texas Rangers-after years of toiling in the basement of the AL West they have the offense to be a force in the playoffs, but they have always lacked pitching so I think they will be buyers come the deadline. So with that in mind here's an option:

Rangers trade-
1)David Murphy-LF LH- he's 28 put up a solid 2008 season 15hr's 75rbi's .275ba and is on pace this year for similiar numbers, but is in a platoon role on a loaded Texas lineup.

2)Max Ramirez-C RH- he's 24 currently in AAA. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG OPS E
56 214 23 51 11 0 3 32 71 20 67 0 0 .308 .332 .238 .640 2
has some MLB experience but is blocked by Salty/Teagarden.

3)Neftali Feliz- RHSP -he's 21 currently in AAA.
Team League W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR BB SO GO/AO AVG
OKC PCL 3 5 3.61 17 13 0 0 0 67.1 62 33 27 1 28 61 1.31 .246

4)Marcus Lemon-SS -He's 21 currently in AA.
Team League AVG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG OPS
FRI TEX .301 75 276 36 83 15 2 0 27 102 27 35 3 3 .365 .370 .734

Reds Trade:
1)Aaron Harang-he becomes legit #1 starter for the Rangers

2)David Weathers-he becomes valuable late inning reliever who is solid.

3)Robert Manual-he gives them a middle reliever who has posted solid numbers in AAA, who has just been called up.
W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR BB SO GO/AO AVG
LOU INT 3 3 2.51 32 0 0 0 8 43.0 33 15 12 2 9 36 0.44 .209

This works for both teams why?

Rangers-they get a solid #1/2 guy to head their rotation who will give them a boost down the stretch and is under their control financially. Weathers gives them a solid late inning reliever who is a FA after the year and Manuel has posted solid #s at AAA.

Reds-They get an above average bat for LF who will post somewhere @ 20 Hr's 80+rbis and bat @ .280. Ramirez allows them to start Hanigan in 2010 letting Hernandez walk, with Ramirez being the backup catcher. Feliz thus moves into Harang's spot and is givin a chance to compete, while Lemon may or may not be the SS of the future. Thoughts?

No. Most teams have players like this in there system and most don't turn out to be worth much.

Re: Trade Idea with Texas

Its a fine idea, but given Texas' economic woes (recently published) I can't see them taking phat contracts.

Re: Trade Idea with Texas

The Rangers wouldn't do it. They could care less about guys like Weathers and Manual.
