Saturday 8/22/09 Minor-League Updates

Didn't realize that the DSL Reds' season ended with last night's 1-hitter.

Final record: 29-41

Individual Leaders:

BA: Miguel Chacoa 301
OBP: William Moreno 391
H: Samuel Diaz 59
2B: Carlos Sanchez 17
3B: Ayeudi Felipe 6
HR: Junior Arias 6
BB: Samuel Diaz 23
RBI: Carlos Sanchez 37
R: Samuel Diaz, Carlos Sanchez 35
SB: Miguel Chacoa 12
Slg Pct: Carlos Sanchez 437
OPS: William Moreno 758

IP: Starlin Gerson 76
K: Starlin Gerson 67
WHIP: Luis Machuca 1.04
Sv: Porforio Martinez 11
ERA: Radhames Quezada 2.06

Wonder if anybody will be sent to the GCL Reds, who have about 10 days left; or Billings, which has about three weeks left.

Re: Saturday 8/22/09 Minor-League Updates

I doubt anyone makes it over before fall instructional league begins from the DSL Reds.

I will be in Dayton tonight to watch Serrano pitch. It will also be my first time getting to see Fellhauer play. I will probably be checking in from time to time to give a few notes on what I see.

The GCL Reds were crushed, 11-0. It was Tyler Cline's first bad start. He didn't make it out of the second.

Tucker Barnhart batted cleanup.

Re: Saturday 8/22/09 Minor-League Updates

Bats @ Indians

Bolivar LF .247
Heisey CF .279
McDonald RF.324
Francisco 3B .414
Frazier 2B .000
Bankston 1B .260
Valaika SS .219
Denove C .300
Wood, T .375

I think Dorn must have a small injury or something. He hasn't been getting starts but is hitting very well.

I will be driving for the first part of this game. Somebody please give reports until I'm back home, if you can.

Negron has been promoted to Carolina. He's playing 2B.

Wonder if that means Cozart is about to be sent to Louisville.

Alonso is back in Sarasota. So far, he's 0 for 1 with two walks and a K.

I really like what I see so far with Fellhauer and Oliveras.

Serrano has a real good looking slider. Average fastball, good movement. 89-91.

I would say no. The Bats will need to send a player down to Carolina tomorrow when the player is sent down from the Reds when Rolen is activated.

Indy put a shift on for Cisco. It worked as the 2B made a diving stop on a hard hit groundball to get him.

Is JF an extreme pull hitter? Does he use the whole field? I seem to recall folks saying he had some opposite field hits.

You've seen him a fair amount now, do you think he can beat the shift?
