Re: Jinx Alert: Buerhle perfect thru 7...

Buehrle should give Wise $100,000.

Way to go Buerhle!

Report of Rays also giving Buehrle a hand.

Re: Buerhle pitches perfect game!

That catch by DeWayne Wise could very well go down as one of the tops in history, considering the circumstances.
Buerhle looked flabbergasted when he caught it.

Oh, and I loved the final call by Hawk. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! YES!! History!"

Re: Buerhle pitches perfect game!

Under the circumstances, that has to be one of the greatest plays in MLB history.

That has to be one of the greatest defensive plays of all time by Wise. Awesome.

Re: Buerhle pitches perfect game!

Rusty Grier made a circus catch to preserve Kenny Rogers' perfecto back in the '90s.

Kapler hit one into the gap, and Wise on a dead run ran to the wall, jumped, took a home run away, then the ball came out of his glove as he fell to the ground, and he grabbed it with his barehand.

He covered so much ground, and to end up taking a homer away like that was just wow.

Re: Buerhle pitches perfect game!

The question is whether it will be on SportsCenter since, A. It didn't involve the Yankees or Red Sox and B. It isn't a criminal case.

I was just about to break in with the tidbit from ESPN's non-stop coverage that Buehrle is one of only six players every to pitch two (or more) no-hitters.

The others are Randy Johnson, Sandy Koufax, Jim Bunning, Addie Joss, and Cy young.

I just did a search to see who it was who convinced me years ago that Buehrle could be a HOFer. It was Steel.
