Massive layoffs expected at ESPNs NFL division...

Brett Farve is officially not going to play football anymore.

Which means there is now 20% more time to talk about the Yankees, Red Sox, Manny and Tom Brady.

Hopefully Barry Bonds doesn't do anything soon.

or a couple of hours

NFL Network's Scott Hanson reports that free agent Brett Favre "will continue to throw and work out" despite telling Vikings coach Brad Childress Tuesday that he wanted to stay retired.

The thread title reminded me of something I saw after Duke got upset in the NCAA tournament a few years back.

"ESPN cancels tonight's SportsCenter. Dick Vitale placed on suicide watch."

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen much of Pedro Gomez these days...

What team is Terrell Owens on?

Why I am happy that I abandoned the NFL:
*Reason 347: No more Brett Favre talk.
*Reason 348: 75% less Chris Berman
*Reason 349: I don't ever have to see Mel Kiper's hair again.

I can relate to Favre's comment about the age of 40. That's about when my wheels fell off. Up till then I could hang in there with the 20-something guys on the basketball court. But it was like a wall at 40. Joints, fingers, knees, muscles, they all felt like they were beat to crap.

The worst part was recovery. I had a fractured finger that took 6 months to heal. The doc said at 25 it would have taken 6 weeks. And everything was like that. I'd still feel it 2-3 days after playing. I could still do it, but it took a big effort. And it wasn't fun any more.

Get off my lawn.

I'm getting the same way with softball. At 38, I was still pretty good, could yank one out on occasion and play some decent defense. Now at 41 everything hurts for 3 days after.

That said, I am playing tomorrow night.

I am starting to get that way with Adult Baseball...I am hitting the ball better than I have in 20 years but at 37 I banged my knee and it swelled up like a watermelon. Now I hear it from my wife after every game about how I need to quit, I think I just need to get in better shape.

I guess Brett Favre is his own stimulus package. How many jobs did he just save or create?

So you're saying the Vikings are going to be forced to crush #4 in a trash compactor?
