Re: The PTBNL for Weathers

Would it be ironic if it was mark Rogers?

The Reds have bills to pay and a losing ballclub that isn't selling tickets.

It'll be cash.

Re: The PTBNL for Weathers

Evan Fredrickson or Erik Komatsu seem to be about the range the Reds would be looking at. Lucroy would be a really good pickup but since they have moved Lawrie to 2B from C it is probably unlikely that he is on the list.

I wonder if Komatsu is built like a bulldozer.

My wild card would be Scarpetta. I really like the way he pitches and he has a very high ceiling.

On the radio, John Fay made it sound like the Reds had until October 15th to pick from a pool of 2-4 players. I'd be surprised if the Reds received only cash in exchange for Weathers.

Re: The PTBNL for Weathers

I'd hope that they're gonna use the next month or so for a little more in-depth scouting of the 2-4 prospects before making a well-considered choice, but I fear there's nothing more than cash in our future. I'd say about $25K

Re: The PTBNL for Weathers

I'd be shocked if they grab anything other than minor league chaff. Most posters are setting themselves up for disappointment talking about any Brewer prospect inside the Top 20.

At best, he's a high risk, high reward suspect playing in low A with little production or a AAAA player with one good tool.

Re: The PTBNL for Weathers

No doubt it will be cash. My hope is the money that comes in gets reinvested. Aka pay over slot money for a draft pick or more money to a Latin American player. A young man can dream right?

I've now seen several people suggest Rickie Weeks. Is it actually possible that we could receive him?
