Nyjer Morgan article
A pretty interesting article about how the Nats have really turned their run production around. Teaser:

All speedy leadoff centerfielders are the same right? At least we have Taveras.

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
Morgan has been hot (.360BA and 410OBP) since coming over. Will that continue?

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
i would say average at best as far as offense. Seems to me that 720-750 OPS is likely who he is.

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
It's amazing the impact a .400 OBP at the of a lineup can have. Morgan is basically a better defending version of Juan Pierre. When the singles are falling in, he can be a very dangerous player. When he they aren't, he's pretty useless. I imagine his career will follow a similar trajectory unless he continues to improve his plate discipline.

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
It also helps that he's been a 78% base stealer since joining the Nats, as opposed to the 65% success rate he had in his time with the Pirates. He needs to keep that up to maximize his value.

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
You are exactly correct. Morgan has made a 100% difference in the Nats. He's been great, offensively and defensively. He's been able to get on base consistently for the middle of order guys and they have produced big time. How did the Reds let Morgan slip by? Put him at the top of the Reds order and they would look so much different. I don't know if Morgan can keep this up but if he does the Nats have a steal.

Re: Nyjer Morgan article
I guess another way to look at it is, if the Reds had a Morgan as opposed to a Patteras, they could focus their limited resources elsewhere.
And I agree with TN44 that Morgan is what Dusty wants Willy T to be.
