Whatever the motivations, I remember Mike Brown and Ralph Wilson getting crushed by the national media for voting against the current CBA. Than within months the rest of the owners were talking about what an unfair deal it was.

I fully expect a lockout in a few years. If they get to the point of no salary cap next year you can pretty much bank on a lockout.
The thing it is hard to feel sorry for NFL owners when they have put themselves in this condition with the salaries they give out. If you look at the salaries for the first round draft picks this year there are players making 40%+ higher than the same spot a year ago. They talk about economic troubles but it sure has not slowed down the contracts they are giving out. |

Yep. My guess is that the average playing career is far shorter in the NFL than it is in the NBA, MLB and NHL. A missed game in an NFL career thus has a far greater impact on career earning potential.
