Re: What was the most recent movie I've watched?

I saw 9. It was great visually but I was a bit disappointed with the story. I expected it to be more complex and adult-oriented since the subject matter seemed to be, but it was a very light kiddie plot with kiddie chases. Still a decent watch but I was hoping for something deeper.

I think so too. Pitt was fantasic. Both women stole the scenes they were in. Best movie of the year. Even better then District 9, and I loved that one too.

500 Days of Summer was great. And I usually hate romantic comedies.

Halloween 2, Rob Zombie's remake.

Horrible, and I am a Rob Zombie fan. Don't even rent it.

Re: What was the most recent movie I've watched?

My son Jason and I watched "State of Play" a couple of nights ago. Good cast, including Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Robin Wright Penn, Jason Bateman and Jeff Daniels, all give workmanlike performances (Daniels's character is so predictable). It is a mediocre political thriller.

Just watched Euro Trip again.

Matt Damon's best role to date.

Re: What was the most recent movie I've watched?

We watched Atlantic City the other night, a 1980 film with Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon. It was nominated for five Oscars, but I wasn't very impressed with it overall. The two stars performances were good, but I'd have given it about three stars at best. Slow story, somewhat implausible too.

It was exceptionally uncomfortable to watch wouldn't you agree? There's always been an unwritten rule that the 'maniac' was not human somehow. But RZ really made Michael more a person no matter how sadistic he is. The 'grunts' he made as he killed folks in this film really seemed different. The iconic music was only there in a place or two and it left the movie a bit bare in those violent scenes.

I just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time. I thought it was really great.

I was astonished to find out that the lead actor is a career television producer who had only acted professionally once before...in the short film on which District 9 was based. He had no formal training.

Re: What was the most recent movie I've watched?

I watched "Billy Jack" last night, for the first time in its uncut form. Anyone who feels nostalgic for the 70s will be less so after watching that one. So much overacting. So many unconvincing performances! So much overwrought melodrama!

BTW, I was disappointed by "District 9." I saw it about a month ago with my son. I thought it was about 45 minutes too long and I didn't care for most of the actors.

That really is amazing, such a good movie. It's been a good year for movies, for me anyway.

Just watched the Matrix for the first time today. (Don't make fun of me!)
Great film, probably the most original story I've seen since Star Wars or Lake Placid.

Do yourself a favor: don't watch the sequels. Just leave yourself with the image of Neo flying across the city. It's better that way.
