Reds sign Josh Anderson to a minor league deal

According to this article on Reds.com, the Reds have signed Josh Anderson to a minor league deal with a spring training invite. He appears to be another Willy Tavaras, if not worse.

Just because I can't post this in the ORG...

To the poster that mentioned Anderson had some pop. Where has he been hiding it?

The Reds are trying to accumulate as many guys with OPBs near or below Willy's as possible. Their hush-hush plan is to build Willy's confidence and save money with lower basebath maintenance.

I knew there was another speedy no-bat centerfielder out there.

Relax, guys. He is not going to make the team. Filler for Louisville.

I think Matt Anderson is just sitting around Louisville doing nothing. Maybe we could snatch him up too!

Is this the same kids that was with the Braves and then was traded off, if so he is a local boy with tremendous speed, great CF range, and seems to have an upside??

Re: Reds sign Josh Anderson to a minor league deal

Yes, it is the same guy who was with the Braves and then had a HORRIFIC year last for Toronto, Detroit and Kansas City. He has tremendous speed and great range in center. His offensive (very offensive) stats are similar to Patterson two years ago and Taveras last year. I fear that Dusty will think Anderson has upside and is "so young" at age 27. Sigh.
