Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
Lightning in a bottle? Never was a big fan of his ability to strikeout at an alarming rate but could it hurt? I mean we gave Tuffy Rhodes a shot to get back.. Yes it didn't go very far but I think it's worth a minor league deal just to see if he has the drive to make it back.

Pass. I feel like I could just keep pasting the same response for all of these guys:
"We have better internal options who are younger."

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
So do the Cards but they are giving Edmonds a shot. I don't see what the harm is in a minor league deal. Maybe a move like this isn't for a potential roster spot but a way to push the Heiseys, Franciscos, Dickersons, and Nixs to earn their spot. Wilson will be poised and hungry for a shot to get back and could offer these guys a good bit of compitition. He could flop and be done.. But to just say Pass with no effort at all is just tough to swallow. Am I the only one who sees no harm in this?

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
i am not against giving anyone one more shot as long as they don't take away spring ABs from someone we really want to look at. for example: Francisco might not make the team out of spring training but his 75+ ABs in the spring against major league/AAAA/AAA pitching could show what he needs to work on and how close he actually is. same for several other guys. i don't want these guys riding the pine this spring in favor of someone who has no chance to come back.

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
I'm waiting to hear that Ted Williams' head is looking to make a comeback.

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
We can't go there... Strikeouts are bad!

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
Strikeouts are bad when they aren't accompanied by walks.

Unless he can pull an Eric Davis, circa 1996, he can stay home.

I didn't want him in his 'heyday' and I don't want him now.

Re: Preston Wilson Looking To Make A Comeback
I agree that the young guys should get a chance but they will get their chance regardless.Wilson might be washed up and if that ends up being the case he wouldn't be around long.Seems like Walt gave a few has beens a second chance last year without it having any negative impact.FWIW I'd be thrilled if anyone in the Reds OF puts up numbers this season like Wilson did in his prime.
