Reds Sign Miguel Cairo

From MLBTR:

Quote:
The Reds signed infielder Miguel Cairo to a minor league deal, tweets John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Cairo, 36 in May, played briefly for the Phillies last year and hit .287/.325/.392 for their Triple A club. He's capable of playing all around the diamond.

Re: Reds Sign Miguel Cairo

I don't know what his chances are of making the team out of ST but it could potentially add some valuable depth.

Doesn't really bother me at all. Adds depth and can provide a decent stop-gap if someone gets injured.

Eh, it's a depth move, plain and simple. He's a pretty good defender at multiple positions, but that's about all I can say for him. I doubt Cairo makes the team out of Spring Training. He's a Jolbert Cabrera-type player.

My thoughts exactly. Probably a better back-up infield option than most of what's already here.
