I refuse to get excited about the Reds this year

Nope, not this year. Not in spring training. Not looking at how the young guys progress. Not if we get out to a hot April. Not if we take first place in May. Not in June and ere only a few games out. A no point in July, regardless of the standings, will I think to myself, "Hey, they're hanging around, I wonder if they'll make a deal."

Nope. I am being pessimistic. The young guys are going to all regress. Those that do not will suffer career-enders. The Reds will be forced to field a rotation featuring Jimmy Haynes, Paul Wilson, and of course Eric Milton. Quentin McCracken? We could use a cleanup hitter. Wily Mo Pena? How'd you like to play shortstop, son?

Not getting excited during spring training is like skipping Christmas!

Which team in MLB has more young talent available? C'mon you have to allow yourself to be just a little optimistic!

How about this? Just be optimistic that the Reds won't finish in the bottom 3 for once in the central.

I think he is trying the old double-double-reverse psychology - or is he!?!

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

What if the Reds go 6-0 or 7-0 on a West coast trip?

Surely this would prompt MLB management to immediately cancel the Reds next few games and schedule an even more West-er coast trip, located on top of active volcano in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

I'm not getting excited about Jay Bruce all year long.... or Homer Bailey. Keep up the good work.

Aroldis Chapman toeing the rubber for the first time as a Red means nothing to me. As far as the first time his explosive fastball lights up triple digits on the radar gun - YAWN!

Worst thing that could happen this year would be for Dusty to get an extension.

Myself, I always live in fear of an infield popup where everyone runs into one another and suffers serious injuries, because noone called for the ball.
