Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
Seems like just another example a NY reporter just assuming that a team from a flyover state would gladly take the trash of a Coastal team.

Buster Olney remains as flexible a human being as I have ever seen, to talk out of that particular part of his anatomy.

Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
Not that I want him on the Reds but it was pretty windy at that game. Colby Rasmus misplayed an easy fly ball in the first inning hit by none other than the Private.

Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
True, but he just looked so slow out there. UZR had him at -14.5 in the outfield last season and based on what I saw today, I can see why he was rated so low.

Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
I didn't see much of the game after the 1st inning. I was home sick and slept through most of it.

Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
Quote:
John Fay, the Reds beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer posted to his twitter that according to a Reds source, Cincinnati has “Zero Interest” in Gary Matthews Jr. and they have 5 other players on roster that they would rather have then Matthews Jr This response makes more sense then this rumor. It would seem to fly in the face of what Jocketty is building to acquire someone like Matthews. And while early in the offseason we talked about reducing payroll, I think the Reds seemed to have arrived at a workable figure for this year. Unloading a contract at this moment seems to be "old news," not something based on reality. That's not to say one of the big guys couldn't be moved later in the season, but it won't be until either Chapman arrives or Volquez is back and doing alright.

Re: Reds Interested in Gary Matthews Jr.
I'll just put this in here. From Jon Morosi of Foxsports:
In Arizona now. Source says #Reds telling people they probably won't trade unless there's an injury. http://twitter.com/jonmorosi |
