Re: July 5th MiL Updates

Lotzkar is rolling through four, with 7 K. Still 2-0.

Would have been entertaining to watch Torreyes and Hamilton racing around the bases together on Torreyes' triple. They're both 2 for 2.

Re: July 5th MiL Updates

Lotzkar struggling with his command big time in the 5th. He's hit 2 batters, actually hit the same batter twice, the first time around, the ump called him back and said he made no motion to get out of the way, which got the South Bend Umpire ejected for arguing, then turn around and hit him on a 3-2 count w/ the bases clogged. A run had scorred previously off a popup to LF that Duran just got to, but couldn't hold on to. The dropped ball resulted in the runner at 2nd being thrown out at 3rd, thus avoiding an error and turning it into a fielders choice.

Bases clearing double off the CF fence, hands South Bend a 5-3 lead, Lotzkar has been pulled.

By the way, where has Yorman been? Injury or is he out attending to the death in the family that was mentioned a week or so back?

Don't believe I've ever seen a pitcher hit five guys in a game. And only one walk.

Dayton goes up again, 6-5. That team is fun to follow these days.

Re: July 5th MiL Updates

In the ninth, Hamilton walks, steals and scores on a sac bunt and sac fly. Howell closes. Dayton wins 7-5. South Bend had only three hits.

Some major small-ball in that one. Torreyes was 2 for 2 with a BB, HBP and sac. Hamilton stole two (60). And D'Anna drove in four runs while going 1 for 3, a single.

Jacksonville wins the suspended game 9-5.

Neftali Soto has been chosen the Southern League Hitter of the Week. That's back to back for Carolina with Phipps taking the honor last week.

Well, Lotzkar did start the game with four no-hit innings and seven strikeouts. He had command problems in the fifth, but don't forget that he's not far removed from the DL. He's getting there.

Nobody's going to mention that Louisville beat Columbus, 4-2? Sappelt homered. Alonso had three singles. Horst straightened himself out. Gil got the save.

Re: July 5th MiL Updates

In the regularly scheduled game, Carolina just squandered a 3-run lead in the seventh and is tied 4-4. Joseph was on the receiving end.

Rodriguez and Soto (13) have homered. Hynick pitched six strong innings, giving up just one unearned run and fanning 10.

Phipps is now at .301.
