With that performance, Cueto deserves his own thread...
9IP, 1H (maybe), 0R, 0BB, 8K (1HBP....maybe).
Game Score of 93. Halladay, Zambrano, Buehrle, and Cliff Lee have only had 2 Starts with Game Scores of 90+. Lincecum has only had 1 (a 91). Unbelievable gathering together of our Starting Pitching staff. |

Oh yeah, and the pitch count was superb.
I hope these young guys can push eachother, and Homer Bailey was motivated by he saw. Hopefully, a thing like this can really snowball, and he will want to match his peers out there. |

Re: With that performance, Cueto deserves his own thread...
that Game Score was the same Braden had in his perfect game.
Best Game Score by a Red since Tom Browning's perfect game. Last one hit shutout by a Red since John Smiley did it against the Cardinals on September 22nd, 1996. So, all in all, pretty good I guess... Too bad Janish couldn't use his Gold Glove (cough cough) to bring that one in. Good thing O-Cab wasn't playing, otherwise we'd have to read 9 pages on how Janish would have made that play. I was busy watching the Celts-Cavs. PEACE -BLEEDS

^^Yeah, it's too bad weeknight games in Pittsburgh have fewer fans than many minor league games.

Agreed. This is the first time in recent memory the Bucs haven't been a lock for last place. How long has it been since they've had a player like McCutchen? (I don't count Nate McLouth.)

Re: With that performance, Cueto deserves his own thread...
Amazing that he threw 103 pitches exactly one month ago versus the Pirates and only lasted 5 innings.
This time he throws 103 pitches and gets the complete game shutout. I finally saw that play by Janish. That was a hit all the way. Even if he'd gotten to it, he had to go so far to get it, the throw wouldn't have been made in time to get the runner. Maybe w/ Cabrera's "veteran" experience, he would have lined up in a different spot and made the play, though. You never know. There's way too much irony here. "Best Game Score since Browning's Perfect Game, and same as Braden's Perfect Game".....Wow! Watching the REDS is a lot of fun this year (and probably the next several years). |
