Re: Reds vs Pirates 5/12/10 Game Thread (aka "Legend of the Rally Onion")

Bailey , blah blah blah. Lets focus on what really matters.

Drew Stubbs went 2-4, scored twice and hit one out.

This is the Stubbs I think is possible. Forget leading off. The speed is a side dish. We know he can take a BB, all he has to do is show the power more, and he'll be pitched around more. More baserunners, more scoring opportunities. RH on Friday right? Stubbs in CF, Heisey in LF, but I have a feeling it will be Nix instead.

Don't worry, over time, the awesome power of your legend will overcome the facts and everyone will think you did.

Talked to my daughter tonight and told us that she needed to point out that the Reds have not lost since she moved to DC. The move is permanent, so enjoy the rest of the undefeated season, folks.

I'll pay her rent if they don't lose the rest season.

Re: Reds vs Pirates 5/12/10 Game Thread (aka "Legend of the Rally Onion")

I was in court all day. Couldn't even turn my BlackBerry on to check the score. Got out about 5 and even ESPN radio wasn't cooperating on the scores. That is, until 10 minutes before I got home and they told the score. So, I get home, don't even acknowledge the wife and head to the computer. What I read was simply unbelievable. Cueto and Bailey have pitched 18 innings of 5-hit, no run, no walk baseball with 14K's. In 193 pitches. Of course, I temper my enthusiasm because I know this is the Pirates. But, heck, it's fun, isn't it.

Now we head back to reality to the St. Louis Cardinals and Albert Puljos (no, I can't spell his name). If that goes really well, you can count me as a true believer. I'm already almost there anyway.

19-15 and four over. Life is good.

In my opinion, most dominating start from a Reds pitcher since Johnny Cueto in May of 2010. Great job, Homer.

I have to say this was one of the best three game series I've listened to in a long time. The broadcast team of Marty and Jim Kelch did a great job.

I wish they worked together every game, Jeff Brantley is terrible.

The Pittsburgh paper was frank in their assessment of the hometown team, but also quite a few good quotes about the work of Bailey & Cueto.
