Re: Halladay perfect through 7.

Congrats to Roy Halladay! That last out was scary. I thought it had a chance to sneak through.

Two perfect games in less than three weeks, and that third no-hitter of the season.

Best starter in the game. Robbed of the Cy Young last season.

First time in MLB history 2 perfect games in the same season.

Re: Halladay perfect through 7.

You are going to start seeing a lot more of these. It's a completely different game now.

Besides two perfect games and a no hitter by the end of May?

Actually it's pretty much common sense. There are fewer balls put in play than anytime in the history of the game. It's not a sin for top of the order hitters to have 100+ k's in a season now.

The game has changed because teams aren't so set in their ways. I like it.

3 perfecto's now in 2 years (Buehrle last year). 20 in all of history. I don't have any stats to back it up for him...but it does lend credence to it I'd say.

Reeks of small sample size. Most players who hit 20 home runs in a year have a span where they quickly hit 3.

Re: Halladay perfect through 7.

How would two perfect games in a season compare with no-hitters on back-to-back nights or two no-hitters by the same pitcher in back-to-back starts?

Reeks of real data. The New York Times wrote an article about how few balls in play there are compared to in the past. Also there is much better defense in this era. It's not hard to understand how fewer balls in play effects perfect games.
